Institutional Research

To help my research I looked into some of the institutions that distribute magazines. This will help me because it will give me an idea of what kinds of magazines they distribute and which one would distribute a product like my own.

EMAP:


EMAP publications own many "industry-leading" brands the focus on business related genres such as retail, health, construction and architecture. Their main purpose is to connect professional communities and inspire them to "know, grow, progress and win".


They publish things like:


  • Retail Week
  • Retail jeweller
  • LGC
  • HSJ
  • Construction News
  • H&V News
  • The architecture review 
  • AJ
Condé Nast:

Condé Nast publications focus more on fashion magazines than any other. In the US they published 18 consumer magazines, 4 business-to-business publications, 27 websites and more the 50 apps for mobile and tablet devices. They are also one of the UK's largest magazine distributors.

they publish things like:


  • Vogue
  • Glamour
  • CQ
  • House & garden 
  • Brides
  • Easy Living 
  • Wired
Natmags (Hearst magazines UK):

Hearst magazines UK is the trading name of Natmags or National Magazine Company ltd. They publish 20 consumer titles in the UK and 20 digital assets. They have done a few "joint ventures" with other companies such as Rodale and condé nast. 

They publish things like:
  • All about soap
  • Best
  • Company 
  • Cosmopolitan
  • Country living
  • Bazaar
  • Reveal
  • Zest
IPC Media:

IPC Media create content using many platforms like a lot of magazines now, using things like general printing, mobile and tablets and online means. They are the UK's leading consumer magazine publisher.  They also publish more than 60 iconic media brands.

They publish things like:
  • NME
  • Golf monthly
  • Photographer
  • Eventing
  • IBI
  • House & Home
Future Publishing:
Future PLC is an international publishing company which have mainly focused on digital publishing, winning awards for their tablet and smartphone editions. They focus on a wide range of magazines such as technology, games, music, photography, creative and design, sports and auto.

They publish things like:
  • T3
  • Total Film
  • Cycling Plus
  • Mollie Makes
  • Official Xbox magazine


Bauer Media:
Bauer Media is Europe's largest privately owned publishing group. The group offers over 300 magazines in 15 different countries as well as online, TV and radio stations. They do over 80 "influential" brand names covering a wide range of genres.

They publish things like:
  • Heat
  • Parkers
  • MATCH!
  • CAR
  • Yours
  • 4 Music
  • Classic Car Weekly
