College Magazine Task

For my media course I was asked to create a cover page and contents page for a college magazine. The image to the right is the front cover I created for the college magazine. It's somewhat similar to the Javis Cocker magazine front cover I created since it had a dark coloured photo for the back ground/main image and white text to contrast it. However in this one I added a white area at the bottom to put more sell lines in as after looking at some other, professional magazines I saw that there was actually a coloured area behind them sell lines or other text which matched the colour scheme. I tried doing this however they look too much like just plain blocks of colour whereas the ones on the professional magazine managed to blend in almost rather than just stick out and look bad. I think if i made the area a different shape, like using diagonals, it might work better, but I did like how my Javis Cocker magazine cover came out so I might just scrap this idea. Again I have included the price and date and I have used different font sizes to make some text seem more important, however it is harder to see in this cover as the different texts make it harder to see, i will have to improve this in my actual one.

The image to the right of here is my contents page. I like how it clearly shows which text is most important having the title in a much larger size than the other information, thankfully this is more clear on this page then the cover page. I also like how it had a good colour scheme, using limited colours and I also like the page numbers that are in a different colour to the rest of the text so they stand out and also make the page look more interesting, but also they match the colour scheme. To improve this I might put in a subscription information box telling the reader about online subscriptions as this is common now.
